Performance: Fully working as intended. Seems to have trouble with the odd retail pre-recorded music cassettes. I can't figure it out, as some are fine, while others... not really (?!).
All other TDK, Maxell, Sony, Fuji, BASF, Denon, etc tapes, it performs perfectly.
Update: (October 8, 2025) Just tested the unit for recording and while some critical functions seem to be spot on perfect, ie. calibration is perfect, something is wrong with the speed while it records, and hence it distorts the recording enough to be noticeable (wobbly). The unit will definitely need some attention on this front. Price will reflect this glitch. See the 2 videos provided.
Serviced: The deck is performing well within its playback and recording (not anymore) functions.
The unit was recently serviced (June 26, 2023), but it didn't get much use. Time for it to find a new home.
* Replaced drive motor and installed correct belt.
* Replaced 2 pinch rollers
* Demagnetized, cleaned heads, and capstans.
* Set correct playback speed according to Tandberg speed-test tape.
* Verified azimuth is correct
* Tested recording and playback for type I, II, and IV tapes.
* A new electronic board was added to replace a damaged board that serviced the motor.
