Service and Performance:
This Panasonic Turntable Boombox was recently serviced (November 7, 2025) by Klaasson Vintage Audio of Orillia, Ontario. All functions are playing back normally, with an ever so slight, but odd glitch (see 1st. not below):
 * The correct sound Balance is attained with a +/- 0.5 adjustment towards either to the Left or to the Right channels whenever playing a Tape, a Record or the Radio.
 * Cassette play back is good and clear. Recording is quite clear and very pleasant.
 * The turntable tray slides out perfectly and pushed back in flawlessly.
 * The stylus appears to be brand new and it is playing brilliantly. Hard to tell if its the original National/Technics EPC-13STH ceramic cartridge, or not.
 * The Antenna is original and screwed on tight.
 * Comes with its own power cord and extra long speaker wires.

Shipping: I anticipate this Boombox will cost roughly $65 to ship to most East side states. West side states might pay extra... Double Box Shipping is always attempted, but not always attained. Either way, it will be very well packaged... it takes 4-5 hours to properly package any piece of HiFi gear or any boombox.
US customers: Please consider that this boombox, manufactured in Japan, may be subjected to a 15%. tariff rate, which is the currently assigned rate to Japanese products.

For some countries: This Boombox can be shipped to most places in the world. Please send me an email with your request and address. I will find the best possible shipping rate available. Western Union may be the only payment method acceptable for some parts of the world.

PANASONIC: A Matsushita Company

The global electronics giant now known as Panasonic was founded in 1918 in Osaka, Japan, by Konosuke Matsushita. Initially named Matsushita Electric, the company’s first successful product was an improved attachment plug, reflecting its core mission: making everyday life easier through electronics. After formal incorporation in 1935, the company grew rapidly, adopting the Panasonic brand and becoming a major force in consumer electronics. Today, it operates as Panasonic Holdings Corporation with its main head office in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan, and is still very much in operation.

A key period in the company’s history was the 1980s boombox era. Operating alongside its Technics brand, Panasonic dominated the portable audio market, producing high-quality stereo cassette recorders that defined the era. The company’s innovative engineering culminated in the creation of unique "turntable boomboxes," exemplified by the SG-J800.

Released around 1984, the SG-J800 was an ingenious device that housed a slide-out, full-size (12-inch LP capable) belt-drive turntable directly within the portable chassis, alongside the cassette deck and radio. This "Triple-Take" system allowed users to carry and play their vinyl records anywhere, fusing high-fidelity audio with true portability. The SG-J800 remains a highly coveted collector’s item, serving as a distinct reminder of Panasonic’s innovative spirit.
