Agfa Shape Mark 10 - CX - 1983 - US
Agfa SHAPE MARK 10 - CX 45 Minutes
Tape made by Agfa. Agfa made excellent Type II magnetic tape. This one however is not Chrome, but a cobalt doped formulation. These were made in the state of Maine, USA by Shape Inc. (Biddeford).
These are too rare to even try recording just anything on them. I opened one up to take closer pictures and to see if there was any description inside the J-Card about its tape formulation, but... there was nothing. Nice shiny and silvery J-card on the outside with plenty of room to write a novel on the inside!
They claim the shells are super crystal clear, and yes they are, but then they could not find a super clear slip sheet! Lol!
Note: Added December 4, 2023. The one shown here was opened for close-up pictures of the magnetic tape and to see the inside of the J-Card. J-Card and lables are new and intact. It was not used at all, not even for calibration. The one shown is the one available. The original wrapper is still wrapping the case and it will not fall off. The case has a hairline crack and a new 99% similar case is provided. The replacement case is 100% new and it comes with a wrapper on it. Only one available!
Agfa-Gevaert N.V. (Agfa)
is a Belgian-German multinational corporation that develops, manufactures, and distributes analogue and digital imaging products and systems, as well as IT solutions. The company has three divisions. Agfa Graphics offers integrated prepress and industrial inkjet systems to the printing and graphics industries. Agfa HealthCare supplies hospitals and other care organisations with imaging products and systems, as well as information systems. Agfa Specialty Products supplies products to various industrial markets. It is part of the Agfa Materials organization. In addition to the Agfa Specialty Products activities, Agfa Materials also supplies film and related products to Agfa Graphics and Agfa HealthCare.
Agfa film and cameras were once prominent consumer products. However, in 2004, the consumer imaging division was sold to a company founded via management buyout. AgfaPhoto GmbH, as the new company was called, filed for bankruptcy after just one year.[2] The brands are now licensed to other companies by AgfaPhoto Holding GmbH, a holding firm. Following this sale, Agfa-Gevaert's commerce today is 100% business-to-business.
