TDK SA - 1989 (1.0)* - US
One of TDK's most loved cassettes. Looks and sounds fantastic, and it was the yardstick most deck manufacturers at the time calibrated their decks to. So much so, usually no biasing is needed.
This model, made in Japan is both gorgeous to look at and performs so well. It has a great shell, with that fantastic big window. The pictures don't do this tape justice. These look like GOLD bars!
General Note (*): This (1.0) 1989 version simply means it preceded the (2.0) 1989 version with new shells. Also available here at Cassette Comeback on another page. This (1.0) version is actually TDK SA's 1987 or 1988 shells in this new 1989 Gold wrapper.

About TDK:
TDK’s origins trace back to 1935, when the Tokyo Denki Kagaku Kogyo company was founded to commercialize ferrite, a magnetic material invented by Dr. Takeshi Takei that would become central to modern recording technology. By the 1950s and 1960s, TDK had evolved from a materials science firm into one of Japan’s most important manufacturers of magnetic tape, supplying both industrial and consumer markets.
With the rise of the Compact Cassette, TDK quickly established itself as a global benchmark for tape quality.
