BASF Chromdioxid Maxima II - 1985 - EU

*PLEASE NOTE, THESE ARE PURE CHROME TYPE 2 CASSETTES - IF YOU HAVE A DECK CALIBRATED TO FERRO COBALT TYPE 2 (LIKE TDK SA) YOU WILL NEED TO CALIBRATE TO THESE CASSETTES TO GET THE BEST RESULTS*

Many cassettes say "Chrome POSITION", but don't use chrome tape at all.

BASF developed the first Chromium Dioxide "Chrome" tape and patented the technology.

Most of the other manufacturers didn't want to licence it, so their Type II tapes are cobalt doped ferric, hence Chrome POSITION.

Now, pure chrome tapes didn't perform well in a lot of Japanese decks, especially those without level and bias adjustments. These decks were usually calibrated to a Japanese tape like the TDK SA.

These were BASFs top of the line Type 2 in the mid 80s. Heavy shell with their "Security Mechanism" and a double coated pure chrome tape inside. The "hiss" on these is about as low as it gets, so you don't need to record these hot.

If your deck has manual bias and level controls, record these at less than 0db, and you find these are some of the best cassettes ever made.

NOTE: Only 1 available.

BASF is listed on the Frankfurt Stock ExchangeLondon Stock Exchange, and Zurich Stock Exchange. The company delisted its ADR from the New York Stock Exchange in September 2007. The company is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.[7][8]
