You can tell this tape came towards "the end".

Web address on the wrapper. "CD" everywhere. A damned "Slim case" with a lenticular insert. Aimed at the young and US market only.

However, this is a superb cassette.

From what we can tell it's UX inside this Sony CD-IT 2 (could even be UX-S) Type II tape inside a very rigid and attractive shell, which Sony first used on the TOTL 1988 HF-ES and was still used on the last generation Metal SR.

The shell is welded, which some people don't like, but the truth is that a welded shell is more rigid and better balanced than one with screws. It's only a problem should you want to open the cassette up...

We've found these don't really need any bias tweaks so should work well in all decks, and are quite superb, but their rarity outside of the USA is reflected in their price.
