ToneMaster - 1989 - LN

Made in China (PRC) for East Wing Distribution Co. of Deerfield, IL 60015, a wholesale arm of Walgreens.

The ToneMaster LN was a 1980s drugstore staple. While the tape pancakes appear well-cut, this Type I blank was a budget-tier product commonly found at K-Mart and other similar Dept. stores. It remains a classic example of "private label" retail history from the late analog era.

Though visually decent, the general consensus is that these tapes are best suited for voice dictation rather than high-fidelity music. Due to a high noise floor and basic shell construction, they are now primarily valued as nostalgic collectibles or for lo-fi recording projects where a gritty, vintage hiss is possibly desired (?!).

Manufacturing year is unknown. Estimated year of production: 1989.

Note 1: 60 Minutes:  Lightly scuffed wrapper. Scarce length. Nostalgic. Only 1 available.
Note 2: 90 Minutes:  There are only 6 of these cheap nostalgic tapes. One has a small hairline crack on the case (front) and one other has a small tear on one of the edges. Both defects are too insignificant to have them listed as B-Grade. ALL SOLD!
