Super Chrome - Slim Case
"SKC made many tapes for other companies, like Memorex and their quality was always good and sometimes, exceptional. Here is their Top-of-the-League Type 2 from the early 90s...and it's a Pure Chrome! Use it in a deck that has manual bias and level controls, keep them at about 0db and you'll find that these are superb sounding Type 2." Tony Villa
PURE CHROME TAPES WARNING!
These are "pure chrome" Type II tapes. If your deck is calibrated for ferro‑cobalt Type II (e.g., TDK SA), you’ll need to re-calibrate for proper results.
Most tapes marked ‘Chrome POSITION’ aren’t true chrome. DuPont created and patented real chromium dioxide, and many brands avoided licensing it, opting for cobalt‑doped ferric instead.
Pure chrome can behave unpredictably in decks without bias or level adjustment, especially Japanese models tuned for tapes like TDK SA, Sony UX, Denon HD or Fuji FR-II...
Because of their specialized behaviour, these tapes are best suited to users familiar with true chrome characteristics. Please purchase only if you’re confident working with real chrome formulations, as returns aren’t accepted.

Note 2: 60 minutes: #102: More than one hairline crack on the reverse side of the cassette case, and one other stronger crack on the left side. Some Sun discoloration on the main edge of the wrapper. See pictures. Only 1 available.

ABOUT SKC (Sunkyong Cassettes)
SKC began in the late 1970s as part of South Korea’s Sunkyong Group, entering the global cassette market at a moment when demand for high‑quality, affordable blank media was exploding. By the early to mid‑1980s, SKC had become one of the most respected non‑Japanese tape manufacturers, known for clean, consistent ferric formulations, excellent shell tooling, and a level of quality control that rivalled the major Japanese OEMs.
SKC tapes circulated worldwide and were widely re-branded, making it a quiet backbone of the industry. Though the company later shifted toward optical media and eventually into the broader SK Group’s technology portfolio, SKC’s cassette era remains a key chapter in blank‑tape history, a period when South Korea briefly stood shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the giants of the format
Throughout the mid‑1980s and into the 1990s, SKC became a major OEM supplier for brands such as Memorex, Realistic, BASF/EMTEC, and various regional TDK and Maxell budget lines. Their consistent ferric formulations and well‑tooled shells made them a trusted source for store brands worldwide, from K‑Mart to Carrefour. SKC’s work quietly underpinned a huge portion of the global cassette market, making them one of the most influential non‑Japanese manufacturers of the era.
