Price: The price for this system is $85.00, however, it has to be sold in two separate parcels, as the Audio unit was manufactured in Malaysia, and the speakers were manufactured in Indonesia. No part of this system will be sold separately.
System Performance: This system appears to be working very well, and it records so surprising well and clear(!) I tested it from a CD. Simply superb! Wow! Pause button only works for the CD player, this is the way it was designed. However, when you are recording, the record button it itself also the Pause button for this unit. Every other button and function seems to be performing as intended. Also see YouTube video.
Owner's Manual: It comes with a sort of generic manual for an XR-A790 and a XR-A390 (very similar model number to that of this one, the XR-A3900). The XR-A390 was meant for Japan and Asia, whereas the the XR-A3900 was meant for North America and probably most of the American continent)
Shipping: I will ship the system to most places in the world. Please send me an email with your request and address, and I will find the best possible shipping rate available.
Careful! This audio system+ speakers may have to be shipped in two boxes, and that will change how much in shipping you may have to pay. Take whatever the site generates as an estimate! I will try to get you the cheapest shipping cost possible, period. If you happen to overpay, a credit will be given back to you. If you did pay enough, I will invoice you for the difference, and you will always have to option to cancel once without any administrative or any other charges to you.
Comment: This system sounds exceptional. Clear, loud and hard to get any distortion out of it. I've had it for about 7 years now and it still surprises me how well it works. You're getting lots of sound for... very little money!
About Pioneer:
Pioneer started in 1938 with Nozomu Matsumoto’s hand‑built dynamic speaker, and that single product set the company on a path to becoming one of Japan’s most influential audio manufacturers. Through the Hi-Fi boom of the 1970s and 1980s, Pioneer earned a reputation for dependable, great‑sounding gear: solid receivers, well‑engineered cassette decks, and loudspeakers that delivered real value. Their CT‑series decks and Elite‑line components, in particular, helped define what mainstream high fidelity could look and feel like.
Today, Pioneer’s presence is more spread out. Home AV products continue under the Pioneer and Elite names, while their former DJ division—now operating as AlphaTheta—remains a dominant force in professional audio. They’re still active in automotive electronics and select home‑theatre categories, maintaining a foothold in the broader AV landscape even if they’re no longer the all‑encompassing hi‑fi powerhouse they once were.
Their importance endures because Pioneer consistently made gear that balanced innovation with accessibility. Whether in speakers, cassette decks, or full systems, they shaped the expectations of everyday listeners and helped bring high‑quality audio into millions of homes.
