The year, 1988-1989, is our best educated guess, so far. The fact that it does not have a UPC code, but that it shares the same shells, the red hub clips, and even the similarity of the decent quality metallic label used match Teac's 1990 CDX tape also produced in South Korea, puts this tape in the mid to late 1988, or even 1989.

Note 1: 90 Minutes: July 15, 2025. TEAC produced some of the most sought after cassette decks, apart from many other HiFi components. Their top deck was the Z‑7000, a flagship model that embodied the company’s engineering focus on stability, fidelity, and durability. The Z‑series decks were admired for their robust transport mechanisms and clean, natural playback, appealing to serious HiFi enthusiasts.

Parallel to its hardware, TEAC marketed premium blank cassettes. Their iconic and multi-coloured Reel-to-Reel cassettes are an absolute must in any cassette enthusiast's collection, sealed or used. While branded under TEAC, strong evidence suggests these were OEM products manufactured by That’s (Taiyo Yuden), a Japanese company renowned for its advanced tape formulations and distinctive packaging during the early 1980's. This OEM relationship allowed TEAC to offer consumables that matched the performance expectations of its decks without investing in its own tape production facilities. Eventually they also turned to SKC of South Korea to produce these great super ferric CDX cassettes.

TEAC EDX 1990 - EU(KR) - Made in South Korea

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0254/5208/5345/products/image_15eacc10-478f-438e-8917-595d04e33998.jpg?v=1676953365
